A direct lightning strike can cause extensive physical damage ranging from destroyed mechanical devices, fire, explosions, personal injuries and even death. When lightning strikes a building, the structure and its contents may be ignited by the heat generated by the lightning. A lightning protection system is designed to offer protection by intercepting such strikes and safely passing their extremely high voltage currents to the “ground”.
The system provides a conductive path between an air terminal network and the earth, so that most of the lightning’s current will follow the path of the lightning protection system, with substantially less current traveling through flammable materials.
Alberta can provide you with complete lightning protection solutions, including the design, supply, installation, certification and maintenance of such systems. Installations conform to the new standard BS EN 62305:2006 protection against lightning.
